Mister Clay Italian
Biography
Active since 1997, Mister Clay began his journey in the world of writing and lettering, inspired by the New York Wild Style. Over time, his visual language evolved, giving birth to Gli Allucinati (The Hallucinated): essential figures, colourful and disarming in their simplicity, bearers of messages of joy, love and humanity. These characters have animated the walls of numerous Italian cities, becoming symbols of a street art that speaks to the heart before it speaks to the eyes. Gli Allucinati are always on the side of those who feel out of place, the marginalised, the fragile, those in need of a smile. They follow no flags or ideologies: their creed is colour, their mission is peace. In a time that often extinguishes the imagination, they ignite small, gentle revolutions, mural after mural.
Mister Clay has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including those in prominent spaces such as the M9 Museum in Venice Mestre. His work has won recognition in Italy and abroad, consolidating a unique voice in the panorama of contemporary urban art.
In recent years, he has transformed the walls of Mestre with a series of interventions: in 2023, he created Gli Allucinati on the external walls of the Rivolta social centre in Marghera, and one of his works was exhibited at the Ospedale dell'Angelo.
At the beginning of 2024, he created a temporary work in Via Gino Allegri, in the centre of Mestre, entitled “Coloriamoci di Pace”. In 2024, DARS-EN-ART Music Gallery presented his works in Cervia with the solo exhibition “Ancora Amore... per Favore”.
On the occasion of the exhibition ‘Urban Dialogues’ organised by the M9 Museum in Mestre in conjunction with Banksy's ‘Painting Walls’, Mister Clay creates a site-specific work outside the museum and a live painting on a wall owned by M9.
During Summer Garden 2024, the Gardens of Via Piave come alive with his works: Gli Allucinati decore electric cabins, litter bins, light poles and walls, transforming the urban space into an open-air gallery.
In the same year, the Fonoprint studio in Bologna - one of Italy's best-known recording studios - commissioned him to create a work. At the same time, the Audi dealer Motorclass in Venice commissioned him to customise the new Audi “All Street” with his Allucinati, accompanying the intervention with an exhibition and live performance in the premises.
At the end of the year, he participated with a Live Painting in the first street market inside a multi-storey garage in Arcella, Padua, an event enriched by performances, exhibitions and workshops.
