UNTETHERED: Alexis Walters at Cris Contini Contemporary

In celebration of the month dedicated to women, Cris Contini Contemporary is proud to present UNTETHERED, a solo exhibition by artist Alexis Walters that explores the themes of memory, identity, and transformation.

 

UNTETHERED is an intimate journey towards reconciling with one's inner child, a path that brings to light a creativity that had been suspended. Through the use of suspended garments, the artist evokes memory and its power to transform the past into something new. Each work originates from a process of metamorphosis: the past is not merely preserved, but reworked, infusing it with new energy and meaning.

The deep blue of the cyanotype on Arches paper envelops the works in an ethereal atmosphere where time seems suspended. The contrast between blue and white becomes a powerful metaphor for transformation, balance between presence and absence, memory and renewal. The cyanotype process, with its contact-impression and light development, strengthens the connection between image and memory, capturing traces that resurface with delicacy and intensity.

UNTETHERED  is an invitation for reflection, a bridge between past and present, between what we have been and what we could become. This exhibition explores the theme of loss, while also celebrating the power of transformation and renewal—resonating deeply with the spirit of March, traditionally dedicated to women.

In occasione del mese dedicato alle donne, Cris Contini Contemporary è lieta di presentare UNTETHERED, una mostra personale dell'artista Alexis Walters che esplora i temi della memoria, dell'identità e della trasformazione.

UNTETHERED è un viaggio intimo verso la riconciliazione con il proprio bambino interiore, un percorso che riporta alla luce una creatività che era sin qualche modo sospesa. Attraverso l'uso di abiti fluttuanti, l'artista evoca la memoria e il suo potere di trasformare il passato in qualcosa di nuovo. Ogni opera nasce da un processo di metamorfosi: il passato non viene semplicemente conservato, ma rielaborato, investito di nuova energia e significato.
Il blu profondo della cianotipia su carta Arches avvolge le opere in un'atmosfera eterea in cui il tempo sembra sospeso. Il contrasto tra il blu e il bianco diventa una potente metafora della trasformazione, dell'equilibrio tra presenza e assenza, della memoria e del rinnovamento. Il processo di cianotipia, con la sua impressione a contatto e lo sviluppo della luce, rafforza il legame tra immagine e memoria, catturando tracce che riaffiorano con delicatezza e intensità.

UNTETHERED è un invito alla riflessione, un ponte tra passato e presente, tra ciò che siamo stati e ciò che potremmo diventare. La mostra esplora il tema della perdita, celebrando allo stesso tempo il potere della trasformazione e del rinnovamento, risuonando profondamente con lo spirito del mese di marzo, tradizionalmente dedicato alle donne.
