A MATTER OF METAMORPHOSIS : Simon Berger | Casarsa della Delizia

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Pier Paolo Pasolini's death, Casarsa della Delizia (PN) - the birthplace of his mother, where the great poet, writer, and filmmaker spent formative years of his poetic inspiration and where he is buried - becomes a stage for contemporary art in his honor, while also paying tribute to another great European author, Franz Kafka.

From April 12 to July 27, 2025, the Exhibition Hall of the Municipality of Casarsa della Delizia, located in the former Town Hall, will host "A Matter of Metamorphosis", a site-specific exhibition by Swiss artist and glass master Simon Berger, supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and in collaboration with Cris Contini Contemporary. This major event-strongly endorsed by the municipal administration of Casarsa-aims to connect the legacy of one of Italy's greatest writers with contemporary artistic creativity.

Curated by Sandrine Welte and Pasquale Lettieri and coordinated by project manager Sandra Sanson, "A Matter of Metamorphosis" is part of the cultural project 'TrasformARTI: Art as a Tool to Imagine the Future', which explores themes of change and metamorphosis in society. Simon Berger's works establish a dialogue between past and present, inviting reflection on the human condition and the world around us. His pieces also touch on themes of solitude and alienation, central to Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis. Through his unique technique of working with glass, Berger captures the existential fracture and sense of disconnection that permeate Kafka's narrative, evoking in the viewer an inner conflict and estrangement that define the human experience.

The "A Matter of Metamorphosis" installation is conceived as a journey where the audience engages with themes of transformation, isolation, and hope. At the heart of the exhibition, an immersive setting combines technological devices with freestanding glass panels, creating a powerful visual and emotional experience.

The exhibition project is organized by the Municipality of Casarsa della Delizia with the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in collaboration with Cris Contini Contemporary, the Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Center in Casarsa, Pro Casarsa della Delizia APS, Contemporary&Co, and the Enrico Galvani State Art High School.

In occasione dei 50 anni dalla morte di Pier Paolo Pasolini, Casarsa della Delizia (PN) - città natale della madre dove il grande poeta, scrittore e cineasta visse anni fecondi della sua ispirazione poetica e dov'è sepolto - diventa in suo onore un palcoscenico d'arte contemporanea, omaggiando anche l'opera di un altro grande autore europeo, Franz Kafka.  

Dal 12 aprile al 27 luglio 2025 la Sala espositiva del Comune, collocata presso l'ex Municipio, ospita "A Matter of Metamorphosis", una mostra site-specific dell'artista svizzero maestro nell'utilizzo del vetro Simon Berger, con il sostegno dalla Regione autonoma Friuli-Venezia Giulia e in collaborazione con la galleria Cris Contini Contemporary. Un grande evento - fortemente voluto dall'amministrazione comunale casarsese - che mira ad unire la memoria di uno dei più grandi scrittori italiani alla creatività artistica contemporanea.

L'esposizione "A Matter of Metamorphosis", curata da Sandrine Welte, Pasquale Lettieri e coordinata dalla project manager Sandra Sanson, è parte del progetto culturale 'TrasformARTI: l'arte come strumento per immaginare il futuro', che esplora temi di cambiamento e metamorfosi nella società. Le opere di Simon Berger stabiliscono un dialogo tra passato e presente, sollecitando una riflessione sulla condizione umana e sulla società che ci circonda. Le opere esposte toccano anche i temi della solitudine e dell'alienazione che sono centrali nella 'Metamorfosi' di Franz Kafka. Berger, attraverso la sua tecnica unica con il vetro, riflette la stessa frattura esistenziale e il senso di disconnessione che permeano la narrativa kafkiana, evocando nello spettatore il conflitto interiore e il senso di estraneità che permeano la condizione umana.

L'installazione "A Matter of Metamorphosis" è pensata come un percorso in cui il pubblico si confronta con tematiche di trasformazione, isolamento e speranza. Al centro della sala l'allestimento crea un'esperienza immersiva tra dispositivi tecnologici e pannelli di vetro autoportanti.

Il progetto espositivo è realizzato dal Comune di Casarsa della Delizia con il supporto della, in collaborazione con Cris Contini Contemporary, Centro Studi Pier Paolo Pasolini Casarsa, Pro Casarsa della Delizia APS, Contemporary&Co ed il Liceo Artistico Statale Enrico Galvani.
