SKI WORLD CUP 2021 | ENDLESS LAUNCHES INTO THE ALPINE WORLD SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH COMMEMORATIVE ARTWORK
Endless has unveiled his latest artwork in Cortina D’Ampezzo, Italy, to commemorate the arrival of the Alpine World Ski Championships. The sporting event will take place between the 8th and 21st February, and will be watched internationally by millions of spectators.
Skiing has been a celebrated activity in the popular Italian mountain region ever since 1956, when it hosted the Olympic Winter Games. It will see the Winter Olympics again in 2023 when it visits for the second time. The town is also home to Kristian Ghedina, the legendary downhill ski champion.
In recognition of the sports significance, Endless was asked to create a large captivating mural in the heart of the town. The mural titled ‘Powder to the People’ references an iconic magazine cover from 1951, featuring a photo of a female skier. In usual fashion, the artist has added a special touch to his artwork, having adorned the ski subjects jacket with his unique branded print. Endless has also finished the mural with humorous ski pun newspaper headlines related to the event.
“It was a privilege to be asked to create a mural to honor the ski championships. Even under pandemic restrictions, the excitement and buzz in the town right now conveys the significance of this event. It is something the people are really looking forward to. This artwork is meant to articulate this feeling of excitement in a bright, fun and visual way whilst also drawing back to Cortina’s heritage as a ski destination. I hope the residents of the town enjoy the art as much as the event itself”. Endless
MONDIALI DI SCI 2021 | ENLDESS SI LANCIA NEI CAMPIONATI MONDIALI DI SCI ALPINO DI CORTINA D’AMPEZZO CON UN NUOVO MURALES “POWDER TO THE PEOPLE”.
L’artista Endless ha svelato a Cortina D’Ampezzo il suo ultimo capolavoro “Powder To The People” per celebrare l’arrivo dei Campionati Mondiali di Sci Alpino 2021. L’evento sportivo si terrà dall’8 al 21 Febbraio con un pubblico internazionale di milioni di spettatori.
Cortina d’Ampezzo è protagonista indiscussa dello sci alpino con grandi atleti come il leggendario campione di discesa libera Kristian Ghedina e importanti appuntamenti internazionali e mondiali come i Giochi Olimpici Invernali del 1956, i futuri Giochi Olimpici Invernali del 2026 e i prestigiosi Campionati Mondiali di Sci Alpino che vedono quest’anno rinnovata la loro presenza nella località ampezzana.
Per celebrare l’importanza di questo sport, è stato commissionato all’artista Endless da parte di E Distribuzione e patrocinato dal Comune di Cortina d’Ampezzo e Fondazione 2021, la realizzazione di un murale nel cuore del paese che rappresenta un’iconica copertina di una famosa rivista patinata con la foto vintage di una sciatrice. Il titolo dell’opera è “Powder To The People”. Come usanza nel suo stile, l’artista ha aggiunto il suo tocco speciale all’opera d’arte adornando la giacca da sci con il proprio logo e ha poi ultimato il lavoro con ironici ritagli di titoli di giornale legati all’evento sciistico.
"È stato un privilegio aver ricevuto la richiesta di creare questo murale in celebrazione dei Campionati Mondiali di Sci 2021. Nonostante tutte le restrizioni dovute alla pandemia, l’entusiasmo e l’eccitazione in paese fanno capire l’importanza di questo evento. Quest’opera vuole articolare questo momento di rinascita attraverso uno strumento visivo brillante e divertente, ma anche attingendo al patrimonio passato di Cortina come prestigiosa località sciistica. Spero che l’opera possa essere apprezzata tanto quanto l’evento sportivo a cui è correlata." Endless
