Cris Contini Contemporary successfully inaugurated Simon Berger's exhibition Tra Madre e Figlio (Between Mother and Son), which can be visited until 4 May 2025 at the Chiesa degli Artisti in Rome, a place steeped in history and art.

The exhibition, realised on the occasion of the 25th Ordinary Universal Jubilee of the Catholic Church and curated by Pasquale Lettieri and Sandra Sanson, offers an exciting journey through the symbolic and visual universe of one of the most innovative artists on the contemporary scene.

The inauguration took place on Friday 4 April at 5 p.m., in the presence of prominent personalities, including Bishop Antonio Staglianó, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, Fulvio Granocchia and Cristian Contini, and the two curators.

At the heart of the exhibition are two impressive works, Virgin Mary and Christ, both created in 2023. These works, made of wood and laminated safety glass, are of extraordinary dimensions (200 x 200 cm) and represent the faces of the Virgin Mother and Christ, respectively.

Simon Berger takes this reflection on meaning and perception to a further level, exploring the relationship between mother and child, symbol of creation and revelation, and the depths of human thought. The two works are presented in a site-specific, immersive installation. The self-supporting glass canvases are arranged in such a way as to create a path that guides the viewer through a labyrinth of fragmented images, which only in their superimposition become clearly legible. This visual game invites the audience to reflect on the process of perception, inviting the mind to reconstruct meanings and recompose images as one moves through space.
