Overview
Tra Madre e Figlio, Chiesa degli Artisti ROMA

"What exists ‘between’ Mother and Son? Generativity, this powerful reality that allows the other to exist through love. The artistic gesture proposed here aims to educate the gaze toward the profound reality that exists in every authentic human relationship."

Bishop Antonio Staglianó

"Tra Madre e Figlio" is the Simon Berger's exhibition taking place from April 4th to May 4th, 2025, at the Church of the Artists in Rome and curated by Pasquale Lettieri and Sandra Sanson..

It is immersive artistic experience that explores the deep bond between the Virgin Mary and Christ through an innovative visual language. The artworks Virgin Mary and Christ, created in 2023, are large portraits sculpted on glass and wood, where each crack becomes a symbol of fragility and strength. The glass, the primary material, refracts light and invites the audience to reflect on perception, transforming every fracture into an act of creation and revelation. This site-specific installation guides the viewer through a labyrinth of fragmented images, which, only when seen together, reveal a deeper meaning. The placement of the artworks at the entrance of the basilica amplifies the exhibition’s symbolic message, creating a direct interaction with the sacred space.

Regarding the exhibition's theme, Bishop Antonio Staglianó states:
"What exists ‘between’ Mother and Son? Generativity, this powerful reality that allows the other to exist through love. The artistic gesture proposed here aims to educate the gaze toward the profound reality that exists in every authentic human relationship."

This reflection perfectly aligns with Simon Berger’s artistic vision, where glass is transformed into a mirror of the soul, challenging the perception of reality.
