David Begbie - STEEL LIVES: LDR22 Showroom Milan

LDR22, founded by Lucio Di Rosa, presents the project Steel Lives, a solo show by artist David Begbie, realised in collaboration with Cris Contini Contemporary art gallery, curated by Jessica Tanghetti and coordinated by Sandra Sanson. 

Steel Lives is a fusion of contemporary art, fashion, and design, highlighting David Begbie's mastery of metal mesh sculpture. His works explore anthropological and mystical themes, using ethereal shapes and intricate details that create new, multidimensional and constantly dynamic forms of life. They propose a contemporary reflection on the interaction between man and nature, on the inner journey and the ability to dream and transform oneself, also leading one to reflect on the concept of sustainability and respect for our planet, a theme dear to both the artist and the organizers.

The exhibition greets visitors with an anthropomorphic figure, SOLN, symbolizing the connection between earth and ether and embodying the dreamlike nature of the display. Inside, the exhibition features artworks with refined details that blend classical inspiration with dynamic metal mesh modelling, bringing movement to the human form. The centerpiece of the exhibition is in a frescoed room, showcasing an installation that evokes the sea through a dreamlike perspective. A central piece, the AIRWAVE Maquette boat, symbolizes journey and discovery, appearing suspended in time. Surrounding it are KOI carps, representing perseverance and transformation, floating as if defying gravity. The entire exhibition reflects on the interaction between humans and nature, exploring inner journeys, dreams, and themes of sustainability.

 

LDR22, fondata da Lucio Di Rosa, presenta il progetto Steel Lives, una mostra personale dell'artista David Begbie, realizzata in collaborazione con la galleria d'arte Cris Contini Contemporary, curata da Jessica Tanghetti e coordinata da Sandra Sanson.

In Steel Lives moda, arte e design si fondono, mettendo in risalto la maestria di David Begbie nella scultura in rete metallica. Le sue opere esplorano tematiche mistiche e antropologiche, usando forme eteree e dettagli intricati che creano nuove forme di vita, multidimensionali e in costante dinamismo. Propongono una riflessione contemporanea sull'interazione tra uomo e natura, sul viaggio interiore e sulla capacità di sognare e trasformarsi, portando anche a riflettere sul concetto di sostenibilità e rispetto per il nostro pianeta, tema caro sia all’artista che agli organizzatori.

Il visitatore è accolto da una figura antropomorfa a connotazione angelica: SOLN, simbolo della connessione tra terra ed etere, metafora della dimensione onirica che caratterizza la mostra. All’interno dello showroom, la mostra prosegue con sculture dai raffinati dettagli scultorei che combinano ispirazione classica e modellamento dinamico della maglia metallica che conferisce movimento alla figura umana. La sala degli affreschi, fulcro della mostra, ospita un’installazione che esplora l'immaginario del mare adottando una prospettiva onirica. L'installazione centrale, la barca AIRWAVE Maquette, è simbolo di viaggio e scoperta e sembra sospesa nel tempo. È circondata da carpe KOI, simbolo di perseveranza e trasformazione, che fluttuano sfidando la forza di gravità. L'intera mostra riflette sull'interazione tra uomo e natura, esplorando viaggi interiori, sogni e temi di sostenibilità.
