BREATHLESS | SENZA FIATO: Gioni David Parra in VR Art Gate

We are pleased to announce that in occasion of Art Gate International 2021, the 2nd edition of the annual global modern and contemporary art fair in virtual reality we are launching BREATHLESS | SENZA FIATO, the innovative exhibition of Gioni David Parra curated by Ilaria Bignotti. The exhibition will then be visible and open to visitors in VR until June 15th.

THE MARBLE OF GIONI DAVID PARRA

The personal exhibition dedicated to Gioni David Parra proposes a selection of works belonging to the "Matter Conceptual" series that show the innovation and the plastic vivacity of the artist, "spiritual heir" of the great Italian tradition of marble sculpture and who grew up right there, in Tuscany, among those quarries full of history and passion. Interwoven with the minerality of love, the luster of desire, the mottling of nature, Parra's works represent a unique case of its kind, as the artist has invented a new way of working marble, making it a stone blade and a light that now arranges itself, like a minimalist alphabet, on the fabrics, now spreads out to form plastic textures and powerful energy reliefs: sharp swords laid for a moment by a warrior of matter, waiting for the perfect moment to challenge the millenary wisdom of marble. The colour, dosed with elegance, vibrates on the textures and breaks, enhancing it, in the minerality of the sculpted forms: tapered and exact blades that push us from hard and earthly matter to transcendentality, thanks to our gaze that from the shadow margin, after the momentum in white, sinks into black or strolls among the variations of colour. Parra's works are fully a contemporary heritage where marble regenerates itself, and regenerates itself, evokes and brings out our millenary identity. La mostra personale dedicata a Gioni David Parra propone una selezione di opere appartenenti alla serie “Matter Conceptual” che mostrano l’innovazione e la vivacità plastica dell’artista, ”erede spirituale” della grande tradizione italiana della scultura di marmo e cresciuto proprio lì, in terra toscana, tra quelle cave piene di storia e di passione. Intessute della mineralità dell’amore, della lucentezza del desiderio, della screziatura della natura, le opere di Parra rappresentano un caso unico nel suo genere, dato che l’artista ha inventato un nuovo modo di lavorare il marmo, rendendolo lama di pietra e di luce che ora si dispone, come un alfabeto minimalista, sui tessuti, ora si distende a formare trame plastiche e rilievi di potente energia: spade acuminate posate per un attimo da un guerriero della materia, che attende il momento perfetto per sfidare la millenaria sapienza del marmo. Il colore, dosato con eleganza, vibra sulle texture e si infrange, esaltandola, nella mineralità delle forme scolpite: lame affusolate ed esatte che ci spingono dalla materia dura e terrena alla trascendentalità, complice il nostro sguardo che dal margine d’ombra, dopo lo slancio nel bianco,  affonda nel nero o passeggia tra le variazioni del colore. Le opere di Parra sono a pieno titolo un patrimonio contemporaneo dove il marmo si rigenera, e rigenerandosi, rievoca e fa affiorare la nostra identità millenaria.
