During the opening night of the prestigious Arte Laguna Prize, Cristian Contini took the stage to award the two winners of the Cris Contini Contemporary’s special Artist in Gallery prize, that is a solo exhibition for one lucky artist. The winners of the sixteenth and seventeenth editions, respectively Jens Jesse and Cristián Meza, will exhibit their works from 12 March to 16 April 2023.

240 artworks from more than 50 countries in the world are now showcased in the iconic spaces of the Arsenale Nord in Venice.

ARTWORKS 

Man, Pondering, 88 x 110 cm oil on boucle, by Jens Jesse is inspired by digital distortions, shortcomings & glitches. This is a painting of a series of people in loneliness, waiting for something to happen, lost in a world of increasing digitalisation & technologies. The artist wanted to express what many people felt during the lockdowns due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. 

“Beyond Life”, 100 x 80 cm oil on canvas, by Cristián Meza is a plastic construction that represents the transmutation of a technological entity to the divine plane and its redemption in the afterlife. It's a kind of satire of a classical apotheosis made with a pictorial style similar to the classical one, but in which there are certain symbols, such as the broken column, that refers to a melancholy for the lost past. To make it more surreal and satirical, the artist mixes Baroque, Pop and Kitsch styles. 

 

 

Durante la serata di apertura della prestigiosa Arte Laguna Prize, Cristian Contini è salito sul palco a premiare i due vincitori del premio speciale di Cris Contini Contemporary Artist in Gallery, ovvero una mostra personale per un fortunato artista. I vincitori della 16esima e 17esima edizione, rispettivamente Jens Hesse e Cristián Meza, esporranno i loro lavori dal 12 marzo al 16 aprile 2023.

240 opere provenienti da più di 50 Paesi nel mondo sono ora esposti negli spazi iconici dell'Arsenale Nord di Venezia. 

LE OPERE 
Man, Pondering, 88 x 110 cm olio su boucle, di Jens Jesse si ispira alle distorsioni digitali, agli errori e ai glitch. Questo è un dipinto di una serie di persone in solitudine, in attesa che accada qualcosa, perse in un mondo dove vige la crescente digitalizzazione e le nuove tecnologie. L'artista ha voluto esprimere ciò che molte persone hanno provato durante i lockdown dovuti alla pandemia nel 2020 e nel 2021.
“Beyond Life”, 100 x 80 cm olio su tela, di Cristián Meza è una costruzione plastica che rappresenta la trasmutazione di un'entità tecnologica al piano divino e la sua redenzione nell'aldilà. E' una sorta di satira di un'apoteosi classica realizzata con uno stile pittorico simile a quello classico, ma in cui sono presenti alcuni simboli, come la colonna spezzata, che rimandano ad una malinconia per il passato perduto. Per renderlo più surreale e satirico, l'artista mescola lo stile barocco, pop e kitsch.
