THE GREAT NIGHTMARE | Michele Tombolini

Cris Contini Contemporary in collaborazione con Agostino Art Gallery presenta‘The Great Nightmare’, tre grandi opere che, come dichiara, l’artista "vogliono sottolineare il grande incubo dell’umanità, ovvero la guerra. Non mi riferisco direttamente alla situazione attuale perché come artista non mi metto mai da una parte ma desidero far pensare, mi piace far riflettere su tutte le guerre che ci sono state, che ci sono e che ci saranno’.  

‘Control’ rappresenta il volto di una donna con un drone in bocca, elemento grafico che si illumina, si ingrandisce e rimpicciolisce, generando il suono angosciante di un elicottero.  ‘Mask’ ritrae una ragazza con una maschera sul viso, al cui interno vengono proiettati filmati di bombardamenti assordanti relativi a varie epoche storiche, trasportando lo spettatore in uno scenario da incubo. La terza opera, più grande rispetto alle altre, è invece un messaggio di speranza.  ‘The Hope’ raffigura una ragazza che, allontanandosi dai palazzi distrutti alle sue spalle, sembra avvicinarsi allo spettatore, quasi uscendo dal quadro, indossa un abito prezioso, materico, in rilievo, come se fosse in procinto di andare ad una serata elegante. Un evento di rinascita, di ritorno alla vita.  Sulla bocca una farfalla, simbolo che nell’alfabeto dell’artista. è da sempre un messaggio di luce.

 

Le opere saranno in esposizione nel cuore della città meneghina presso Agostino Art Gallery dal 26 Ottobre al 23 Novembre 2022.

Cris Contini Contemporary in collaboration with Agostino Art Gallery presents 'The Great Nightmare', three great works that, as the artist declares, "want to underline the great nightmare of humanity, namely war. I am not referring directly to the current situations taking place because, as an artist, I never put myself on one side but I want to make people think, I like to make people think about how all the wars that have taken place are here and will continue to be here".

'Control' represents the face of a woman with a drone in her mouth, a graphic element that lights up, enlarges and shrinks, generating the distressing sound of a helicopter.
'Mask' portrays a girl with a mask on her face, inside videos of deafening bombing relating to various historical periods are projected, transporting the viewer into what feels like a waking nightmare.

The third work, larger than the others, is instead a message of hope.
'The Hope' depicts a girl who, moving away from the destroyed buildings behind her, seeming to approach the viewer, almost stepping out of the picture. She is wearing precious materials and an embossed dress, as if she was about to go to an elegant evening. An event of rebirth, of a return to life. On the mouth a butterfly, a symbol of that, in the artist's alphabet, has always been a message of light.

 

The works will be on display in the heart of the city of Milan at Agostino Art Gallery from 26 October to 23 November 2022.
