IL GARD CINETICO. Sono solo 4 x 20
La Città di Venezia e l’Istituzione Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa festeggiano in collaborazione a Cris Contini Contemporary gli ottant’anni di Ferruccio Gard con la mostra antologica Il Gard cinetico. Sono solo 4 x 20, che si terrà dal 27 febbraio al 10 aprile 2022 nella prestigiosa sede della Fondazione in piazza San Marco.
La mostra prodotta dalla Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, presieduta da Bruno Bernardi e diretta da Michele Casarin, ricostruisce l’intero percorso artistico di Gard, dalle prime opere cinetiche degli anni ’70 alle parentesi dedicate all’informale e all’astrattismo geometrico degli anni Novanta, per intensificare dal Duemila le rinnovate ricerche in optical e le più recenti sculture astratto-cinetiche in plexiglass.
Il titolo della mostra, Il Gard Cinetico. Sono solo 4 x 20, vuole essere un riferimento ludico all’età anagrafica di Gard, un artista ancora in piena attività e impegnato a sperimentare nuovi linguaggi nell’ambito dell’arte optical con la stessa curiosità ed energia di un eterno giovane...che ha compiuto 4 volte vent’anni!
Gard è riconosciuto come uno dei maestri e dei precursori delle ricerche Optical- cineticheinternazionali. L’artista ha presentato le sue opere in sette edizioni della Biennale di Venezia, in due edizioni della Biennale Architettura e alla Quadriennale di Roma del 1986.
Gillo Dorfles, del quale è pubblicata la presentazione in catalogo, lo ha definito “Il Gard cinetico”, il poeta e scrittore Paolo Ruffilli gli ha dedicato lo scritto “Il cinetico del colore”.
Della sua arte hanno scritto i più famosi storici dell’arte, con presentazioni in catalogo da Giuseppe Marchiori, Pierre Restany, Gabriella Belli e Achille Bonito Oliva a Luca Massimo Barbero, Renato Barilli, Luca Beatrice, Beatrice Buscaroli, Luciano Caramel, Claudio Cerritelli, Giorgio Cortenova, Giovanni Granzotto, Tommaso Trini, Alberto Veca e Marisa Vescovo, oltre a famosi artisti, da Piero Dorazio a Virgilio Guidi.
Le opere di Gard, nella loro tessitura di geometrie e di intersezioni cromatiche, si inseriscono a pieno titolo in quella linea nobile dell’arte italiana e internazionale che parte dal Futurismo (e in particolare da Giacomo Balla). La vibrazione della pittura di Gard, le sue profondità illusive e il suo rigore compositivo potranno costituire un intenso dialogo, sia pure a distanza, tra la storia, a Venezia, della grande pittura veneta e la contemporaneità, fondato sul colore, la geometria e la pulsazione luminosa dei suoi intrecci dinamici.

THE KINETIC GARD. They are only 4 x 20
The City of Venice and the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation are celebrating Ferruccio Gard's eighty years in collaboration with Cris Contini Contemporary with the anthological exhibition The Kinetic Gard. They are only 4 x 20, which will be held from 27 February to 10 April 2022 in the prestigious headquarters of the Foundation in Piazza San Marco.
The exhibition produced by the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, chaired by Bruno Bernardi and directed by Michele Casarin, reconstructs Gard's entire artistic path, from the first kinetic works of the 1970s to the parentheses dedicated to informal and geometric abstractionism of the 1990s., to intensify from the year 2000 the renewed research in optical and the most recent abstract-kinetic sculptures in plexiglass.
The title of the exhibition, The Kinetic Gard. They are only 4 x 20, it wants to be a playful reference to the age of Gard, an artist still in full activity and committed to experimenting new languages in the field of optical art with the same curiosity and energy of an eternal young man... who has turned twenty four times!
Gard is recognized as one of the masters and forerunners of international optical-kinetic research. The artist presented his works in seven editions of the Venice Biennale, in two editions of the Architecture Biennale and at the Rome Quadriennale in 1986.
Gillo Dorfles, whose presentation in the catalog is published, called it "The kinetic Gard", the poet and writer Paolo Ruffilli dedicated the essay "The kinetic of color" to him.
The most famous art historians have written about his art, with presentations in the catalog by Giuseppe Marchiori, Pierre Restany, Gabriella Belli and Achille Bonito Oliva to Luca Massimo Barbero, Renato Barilli, Luca Beatrice, Beatrice Buscaroli, Luciano Caramel, Claudio Cerritelli, Giorgio Cortenova, Giovanni Granzotto, Tommaso Trini, Alberto Veca and Marisa Vescovo, as well as famous artists, from Piero Dorazio to Virgilio Guidi.
Gard's works, in their weaving of geometries and chromatic intersections, fit fully into that noble line of Italian and international art that starts from Futurism (and in particular from Giacomo Balla). The vibration of Gard's painting, its illusive depths and its compositional rigor could constitute an intense dialogue, albeit at a distance, between the history, in Venice, of great Venetian painting and contemporaneity, based on color, geometry and luminous pulsation of its dynamic weaves.
