The Basilica of San Celso in Milan will host, from 23 October now to the 8th December 2020, Ad integrum, a personal exhibition by the sculptor Michelangelo Galliani, curated by Angela Madesani and organized by the lartquotidien cultural association.
Since the the beginning of his journey, Michelangelo Galliani has placed himself in a dialogical connection with classicism, establishing an essential, formative and complex relationship with it, in which dominant is the fragment that reveals itself to be integrum. Galliani's fragments are already born as pieces of something impossible that never belonged to a completeness.
Some of the works on display, like Fuggi (2018) and Rebus Vitae (2018), are from the beginning parts of statuary that are proposed and reconstituted. This is a metaphorical as well as pragmatic reconstruction of what time has subtracted in order for the fragment to reach such a strength that signify unity.
Galliani's work is the successful attempt to create a contemporary work with a traditional material, which he has had a visceral relationship with since the beginning, that is the marble. A basic theme links the works present in the Basilica to each other, is the theme of time, of its inexorable passage, which leaves behind fragments of history, of memory, in which is the poetry of life. La Basilica di San Celso a Milano ospiterà, dal 23 ottobre ora fino all'8 dicembre 2020, Ad integrum, mostra personale dello scultore Michelangelo Galliani, a cura di Angela Madesani ed organizzata dall'associazione culturale lartquotidien.
Dall’inizio del suo cammino, l’artista si è posto in relazione dialogica con la classicità, instaurando con essa un rapporto imprescindibile, formativo e complesso in cui a dominare è il frammento che si rivela ad integrum. Quelli di Galliani sono frammenti, che nascono già come tali, di qualcosa di impossibile e che mai sono appartenuti a una completezza. Così alcuni dei lavori in mostra, Fuggi (2018), Rebus Vitae (2018), fin dall’inizio sono parti di statuaria che vengono proposti e ricostituiti. La sua è una metaforica quanto pragmatica ricostruzione di quanto il tempo ha sottratto per giungere alla forza del frammento che riesce, appunto, a significare unità.
L’opera di Galliani è il tentativo riuscito di fare un lavoro contemporaneo con un materiale, il marmo, della tradizione, con il quale ha sin dall’inizio un rapporto viscerale. Un tema di fondo lega le une alle altre le opere presenti nella Basilica, è il tema del tempo, del suo passaggio inesorabile, che lascia dietro a sé frammenti, di storia, di memoria, in cui si trova la poesia della vita. Nelle opere di Galliani è presente la volontà di sospensione, di non finito, per lasciare la testimonianza di un passaggio, il suo.
