On the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, Lorenzo Puglisi pays his own personal homage to the Florentine genius with a monumental, original painting called Il Grande Sacrificio (The Great Sacrifice), an artwork created for the exhibit curated by Giovanni Gazzaneo. The exhibit will be shown at the Sacrestia del Bramante in the Santa Maria delle Grazie church from April 3 to 28, 2019.
The exhibit, which also presents two works dedicated to the Passion of the Christ, Crocefissione (Crucifixion) from 2018 and Nell'orto degli ulivi (In the garden of olive trees) from 2017, inspired by Velázquez, Rubens and Goya, is in addition a rare occasion to admire the beauty of the Sacrestia del Bramante, which is usually not open to the public. The Sacristy contains many treasures such as paintings that decorate 16th-century wardrobe doors whose bright shades create a dialog between antique and contemporary in one of the most intense and renowned places in Milan.
The exhibit is accompanied by a catalog published by Edizioni Crocevia and curated by Giovanni Gazzaneo.
